ROSEHILL RACE 6 PREVIEW

By Phil Purser

Peter Snowden (pictured) trains website each way tip Skytrain.
Rosehill is the venue for an eight race card in Sydney tomorrow - with the first set to jump at 12.50pm local time, whilst the last exits the barriers at 5pm.

There are two black type races on the day and they are Races 3 and 6 – the San Domenico Stakes for 3YO’s run at Group 3 level and the Starlight Stakes, which is a Listed Quality Handicap. Both races are run over 1100 metres.

The race I’m previewing tonight is Race 6, the Starlight Stakes.

My thoughts on the race are:
HORSE
COMMENT
EAGLE FALLS
I have absolutely no idea why you would put a green three-kilo apprentice on in a no claiming race, so he’s impossible to have.
SKYTRAIN
Half an enigma - but he’s drawn wide, so even McEvoy ought to be able to stay wide with cover. There’s a stack of speed in the race so whilst he’s coming back in distance, which is not ideal for any racehorse, he should charge come late.
SATIN SHOES
A grossly overraced mare who interestingly has never won a race against all gender horses since 26/2/11 – that’s nearly 18 months, yet she’s very short here taking on the males. Started 20/1 when resuming from 16 weeks off behind Woorim in the Oakleigh Plate on 25/2/12 – and ran 15th of 17. Tomorrow she resumes from 14 weeks off at 2/1. Win, lose or draw that’s not value. And she has blinkers back on, which might make her overrace.
SEE THE WORLD
Has only won one of six races on good tracks. Regularly beats Skytrain home on rain affected going (slow 6 – Gosford – 22/6/12 and heavy 9 – Rosehill – 7/7/12), but the going won’t be rain affected tomorrow.
SAINTHOOD
2010 Wagga Gold Cup winner who hasn’t won a race since. Has had obvious injury woes, as he’s only started once in the last 65 weeks, so no.
NIGHTOFTHEGENERAL
He’ll start 100/1 or 150/1 here and he’s a horse that I don’t mind, as I’ve seen him reel off a good closing sectional on a given day. Hasn’t won a race since 5/4/10, but he’s obviously had injury woes, as in the timeframe since that last win he’s had one spell of 39 weeks and another spell of 62 weeks. Include him in all multiples here as he missed the start last start on 28/7/12, which he can do, but three horses from that 28/7/12 race have performed since – Earnest Ernest (second – then a close second), Rumour And Scandal (fifth – then a close third) and Motspur (tenth then second).
LA REMLAP
A weak animal at the end of her races, so not for me.
SOCIAL RANK
A talented sprinter who has won six of 17. Will be in this for a long way but La Remlap, a stablemate of See The World, may want to soften this horse up in the run, which will work against him - as Skytrain charges home.
MRS ONASSIS
Has speed and some ability - but the last 100 is a worry.

CONCLUSION: There is a stack of assured pace in the race, so I’d back Skytrain each way.
